I Don't Remember Most of Them
This is maybe the hardest category to rank, and also the most unfair one.
I've been to hundreds of museums. Science museums, art museums, history museums, museums about cheese, museums about war, museums about things that probably should never have been turned into a museum in the first place. And: I don't remember most of them.
None were life changing. Some were amazing for exactly 12 minutes. Some I only remember because I got lost inside them. And a large number fall into the category of "Really? I was there? Oh, right, the cake was really good."
So this list is everything except complete, everything except accurate, and everything except reliable. It's also highly opinionated. Which is probably exactly how museum rankings should be.
Methodology: There isn't much of one. Museums get ranked on whether I actually remember them, how long they held my attention before I started eyeing the exit or the café, and how much I enjoyed simply being in the building. No points for size, prestige, or how many famous works are technically hanging on the walls. It's pure gut feeling, so D doesn't mean bad, it just means it didn't stick. The café might still have been excellent.
